Amazon Instant Video App Lands on Xbox 360

For users of Amazon's Prime Instant Video service, the wait for game console support is over.
Amazon just launched an Instant Video streaming app for the Xbox 360, following the launch of a PS3 app in April. The new Xbox 360 app lets users watch more than 17,000 movies and TV episodes through the game console, and provides access to any videos purchased or rented through Amazon.com. It also supports Kinect for voice and motion controls.
Strangely, the Xbox 360 app does not allow users to buy a la carte videos directly through the game console. Instead, users must make the purchase through a Web browser on another device, and the video then appears automatically in the app's “video library” section.
For Amazon, the new app is a boost to its $79-per-year Prime service, which includes streaming videos, free two-day shipping on Amazon.com purchases, and a selection of free e-book rentals on Amazon's Kindle e-readers or Kindle Fire tablet. Amazon Prime Instant Video still lacks support for Nintendo's Wii and for smartphones and tablets (besides Amazon's Kindle Fire), so it's not totally ready to battle Netflix on all fronts, but those extra Prime perks help the service stand out from its rival.
Microsoft, meanwhile, isn't picking winners and losers with its new push into video apps. The Xbox 360 also offers on-demand video apps from CinemaNow, Crackle, and Vudu, along with Microsoft's own Zune Marketplace, so there's plenty of competition between video services on the console.
We may see Microsoft make some more entertainment-related moves with Xbox during next week's E3 trade show. “Moving forward, Xbox will go beyond the box to reach all new families of devices,” Yusuf Mehdi, Chief Marketing Officer for Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment Division, said in a recent blog post. “Just as Xbox has grown to mean more than just games, it also is more than just a console.”

Introduce some free video edit program|software

A lot guys are asking for free video editting software for their videos. Some people may doubt that free video edit program are worthying trying for their limited functions? Some get watermarks, some is restrict on the length etc. I think if one free video editting software just satisfies your needs, then it's a good one. I would like to collect information about some common used free video editting program, if you need one free video editting software, after you read this post, you may know which one to choose.

Windows Live Movie Maker
Windows Movie Maker is a video creating/editing software application, included in Microsoft Windows Me, XP, and Vista. It contains features such as effects, transitions, titles/credits, audio track, timeline narration, and Auto Movie. New effects and transitions can be made and existing ones can be modified using XML code. Windows Movie Maker is also a basic audio track editing program. It can apply basic effects to audio tracks such as fade in or fade out. The audio tracks can then be exported in the form of a sound file instead of a video file.

2 Apple imoive
iMovie is a proprietary video editing software application sold by Apple Inc. for the Mac, iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. It was originally released in 1999 as a Mac OS 8 application bundled with the first FireWire-enabled consumer Mac model – the iMac DV.Since version 3, iMovie has been a Mac OS X-only application included with the iLife suite of Macintosh applications.

Introduce two good free video editing software

Windows Movie Maker (for windows)

A PC displaying a movie created with Windows Live Movie Maker
Windows Live Movie Maker, part of Windows Live Essentials, offers a great way to preserve memories such as vacations or events into little movies that you can then post on YouTube or Facebook or just play on your own computer.
Windows Movie Maker 2 is so easy a child could use it--an incredibly patient child born to filmmaker parents who didn't mind restarting this application every few minutes. From the get-go, you get the feeling that this isn't going to be an easy program to like; Microsoft's installer doesn't play nice. It gives the user no input on program location or other options. The plain interface promises simplicity with drag-and-drop storyboard options, though during testing, it was more like drag and freeze. The program typically froze while importing MPG video files. If importing worked, Movie Maker 2 would quit responding when clips were placed on the storyboard. On the rare occasion that our testers made it to the storyboard, the program would freeze when adding one of the numerous effects. There were so many hurdles to creating a short video that no editing seemed preferable to using this software. What's more, uninstalling the program was even more tedious than installing it. It should be no surprise, then, that we can't recommend this freeware for any user.

What you'll need:

  • Windows Vista (32-bit or 64-bit edition), Windows 7 (32-bit or 64-bit edition), or Windows Server 2008
  • 1 gigahertz (GHz) or higher processor for Windows 7 or Windows Vista
  • Internet connection
  • Graphics or video card (Windows Live Movie Maker requires a video card that supports DirectX 9 or higher, and Shader Model 2 or higher)
  • Windows Live Movie Maker

Top 5 Free Video Editing Software Programs Against Leawo Video Editor

There are many free video editing software programs available for download today, but not all of them are good.

Many programs simply don't do what the manufacturers say that they will do, and others don't provide enough - or any support.

Of course, most free software does not include the same level or quality of support that you would expect to find with software that you purchase commercially.

While it is true that you get what you pay for, there really are some good free video editing software available out there.

Here are the top five that we have found:
Microsoft Movie Maker
Already installed on newer computers that are running Windows XP, Movie Maker has drag and drop features to make creating and editing your movie easier. Microsoft has many add-ons for this software, and upgrades are available through the website. This is one of the best free video editing software programs available.
Apple iMovie Apple iMovie is comparable to Windows Movie Maker, but Apple iMovie is used on the Mac operating system. Apple iMovie has many advanced features and add-ons. Unfortunately, the software is only free if you buy a new Mac system. If you want the software without buying the system, it is available for purchase separately. One of the best free video editing programs available for Mac users.

John Travolta shares family video

John Travolta has put on a united front with Kelly Preston amid sexual battery allegations by releasing a touching video he gave his wife for Mother’s Day.
The actor has had a miserable month after being targeted by sensational claims of sexual misconduct, and a tabloid report suggesting he tried to grope his “Grease” co-star Jeff Conaway.
But Travolta has attempted to prove his 21-year marriage is still going strong by sharing a home video he made for the actress.
In a post on his website entitled “A mother’s day gift for Kelly,” the “Pulp Fiction” star tells how Preston “was so happy with my Mother’s Day video to her, we wanted to share it with you.”
The four-minute clip opens with the words, “From me, to you” and features never-before-seen snaps from the Travoltas’ private family album, including treasured shots of their late son Jett, who died after a seizure in 2009.
There are also recent photos of their 12-year-old daughter Ella Bleu, Travolta kissing Kelly, and of their 18-month-old son Benjamin.
It concludes with the message, “With all my love, Johnny.”

Music Video: Katy Perry Premieres Lyric Video for “Wide Awake” + Part Of Me 3D Trailer

Last night, Katy Perry debuted her new single “Wide Awake” live on the Billboard Music Awards. The single was written for her upcoming 3D film Katy Perry: Part of Me and also appears on the deluxe edition of Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection. This is probably the most personal song we’ve heard from Katy in quite some unlike her recent chart-topping novelty pop confections, which have dominated radio waves.
If you look closely at the lyrics, you can tell the song was influenced by her recent split with Russell Brand. Needless to say, it’s the perfect trailer soundtrack for the film and is cleverly used for the official lyric video for “Wide Awake,” which uses Facebook updates/timeline to narrate the story.
Watch the official lyric video for Katy Perry’s new single “Wide Awake” as well as the official trailer for Part of Me 3D after the jump.

Flash to HTML5 with Google Swiffy (Video Tutorial)

When HTML5 was originally proposed as a replacement for Flash, I was skeptical but the capabilities of HTML5 have improved steadily. One exciting example of what can already be done to convert flash SWF files directly to HTML5 is found in a project called Google Swiffy. Swiffy only supports a subset of older ActionScript 2 code, but it does an impressive job rendering graphics, masks, animation, dynamic text and scripted behavior into a single HTML file that runs on up-to-date web browsers and mobile devices.

For the uninitiated, HTML5 represents a group of related technologies that include an updated HTML specification, a collection of Javascript libraries, support for SVG Graphics and new CSS3 formatting code. If you’re not a coder, all you need to know about HTML5 is that it supports a wide range of functions and features, and it runs on Apple’s Mobile devices without a plug-in.
As conversion resources like Adobe Wallaby and Adobe’s Create JS Tool Kit expand the possibilities for converting Flash ActionsSript 3 content to HTML5, Swiffy offers a powerful way to repurpose simple animation and interactive content for the mobile web and for new ePub3 eBooks when new eReader devices come out later this year.

Video-editing boost for Macs

It's hard to say whether Sony intends its just-announced VAIO RM HD Video Editing system as a professional-level workstation or not. Its $3,500 price tag, its Blu-ray burner, and the fact that it comes with Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 say, "yes," but its single dual-core processor, the lack of a FireWire 800 port, and the use of the word "videophile" in the product's press release say otherwise. Apple's Mac Pro crosses over between the professional and the consumer worlds well enough, so perhaps it's easiest to consider the VAIO RM as you would Apple's flagship desktop.

Sony's new Blu-ray-equipped video editor.
However, even if this new VAIO is supposed to be a Mac Pro competitor, it's still hard to judge its merit. The VAIO RM has a single Intel Core 2 Duo processor to the Mac Pro's pair of dual-core Xeon processors, so Sony has only two processing cores to the Mac Pro's four. Sony gets the win, though, for its Blu-ray burner. As of today at least (don't forget, MacWorld 2007 starts Tuesday), the Mac Pro is still stuck with a standard-definition SuperDrive DVD burner. And if Apple doesn't announce an HD optical drive for the Mac Pro, then it might do so by March, which is when the VAIO RM is set to hit the market.
Other highlights of the VAIO RM HD Video Edition System include Windows Vista Business ("making it easier to manage huge volumes of videos," according to the Sony announcement), 1TB of hard drive storage, and a USB jog dial input device for sliding frames around on the video editing software.

Video Game Review: Silent Hill: Downpour

A scene from Silent Hill: Downpour by Konami
The mystery around Pendleton is one of the most underrated points in the story. You become him — are him — but your motivations are often terribly unclear, and Pendleton’s narration adds to that. One moment, you think he committed a crime, the next you’re unsure.
That ambivalence adds to the wildly uneasy atmosphere of Konami’s new town of Silent Hill. Years of Silent Hill games have made Vatra expert at generating atmosphere, and evidence of that is littered throughout Downpour. Silence is a key tool throughout Downpour, and the effect makes your journey feel truly lonely.
Visits to the Otherworld, strange and unprompted early on, are especially creepy. There’s often little combat or patient gameplay here; but there’s the occasional puzzle, and plenty of deft running, as you dash away from a chasing darkness.
Paths appear and disappear as you run aimlessly through the Otherworld, a sense of urgency and confusion ever present. These thoroughly tense and creepy sections provide a brilliant change of pace to the more exploratory, curious looking around that takes place in the real world.
Add in deft puzzles, and some excellent camera angles, and Downpour has all the tools necessary to exact emotional tension from the gamer. It continues to do that in its battle system, too, subliminally tying enemy behavior to the weather; heavier rains lead to more aggressive enemies.

Companies blacklist Angry Birds, Facebook, YouTube

Research by mobile device management firm Zenprise found that Angry Birds was the most-blacklisted application among users enrolled in its Zencloud MDM service. Other mobile apps that companies blocked their employees from using at work include Facebook, Google Play, Dropbox, YouTube and Skype, Zenprise found. Interestingly, Zenprise also found that Skype was the most whitelisted app among its customers, thus making it the top app to appear on companies' blacklists and whitelists.

Zenprise also notes that companies have gotten a lot busier when it comes to blacklisting apps, as the firm reports "seeing more than three times as many blacklisted apps in Q1 than in our last report" released earlier this year. Zenprise says that companies have been a lot more proactive in blocking apps that pose potential security threats over the past quarter, including Dropbox, Evernote and Cydia.

In addition to its findings on app blacklisting, Zenprise has also found a surge in Windows Mobile users among its North American clients over the past quarter. For the quarter, Windows Mobile devices accounted for 22% of devices enrolled in Zencloud on the quarter, up from 13% of all devices on the MDM service in the fourth quarter of 2011. The report showed a corresponding decline in Android devices supported on Zencloud as well, as Android phones represented 26% of all North American devices on the service in Q1 2012, down from 35% in Q4 2011. Apple's iOS held steady quarter-over-quarter as its devices accounted for 52% of North American devices on Zencloud in the last quarter, unchanged from the share reported in Q4 2011.

Zenprise speculates that the rise of Windows Mobile devices in North American businesses has a lot to do with IT departments' overall familiarity with both Microsoft and Windows. Specifically, Zenprise says that Windows Mobile devices come better equipped to handle enterprise tasks than competing devices.

"Many of these Windows Mobile devices are ruggedized devices for business process workflow-type apps," Zenprise writes in its analysis. "The trend of organizations providing company-owned devices for line-of-business applications is occurring even while many of the same customers are pursuing a 'bring your own device' program in parallel."
