1 Windows Live Movie Maker
Windows Movie Maker is a video creating/editing software application, included in Microsoft Windows Me, XP, and Vista. It contains features such as effects, transitions, titles/credits, audio track, timeline narration, and Auto Movie. New effects and transitions can be made and existing ones can be modified using XML code. Windows Movie Maker is also a basic audio track editing program. It can apply basic effects to audio tracks such as fade in or fade out. The audio tracks can then be exported in the form of a sound file instead of a video file.


2 Apple imoive
iMovie is a proprietary video editing software application sold by Apple Inc. for the Mac, iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. It was originally released in 1999 as a Mac OS 8 application bundled with the first FireWire-enabled consumer Mac model – the iMac DV.Since version 3, iMovie has been a Mac OS X-only application included with the iLife suite of Macintosh applications.

iMovie imports video footage to the Mac using either the FireWire interface on most MiniDV format digital video cameras or the computer's USB port. It can also import video and photo files from a hard drive. From there, the user can edit the photos and video clips and add titles, music, and effects, including basic color correction and video enhancement tools and transitions such as fades and slides.

3 Avid Free DV

Avid Free DV is a non-linear editing video editing software application which was made by Avid Technology. Avid discontinued this product, stating: "Effective September 1, 2007, Avid is discontinuing the Avid Free DV application offer, and has no immediate plans to make an updated version available."

It was intended to give editors a sample of the Avid interface to use in deciding whether or not to purchase Avid software, so when compared with other Avid products its features were relatively minimal. When it was available it was not limited by time or watermarking, so it could be used as a non-linear editor for as long as desired.

4 jahshaka

The interface is daunting, and help is nonexistent, aside from outdated tutorials on the Web site. It was also ported from Linux and requires installation of the GDK platform and OpenLibraries, both of which are included in the full Jahshaka installer.However, if you take the time to learn the program and actually read some of those tutorials, you'll quickly discover that Jahshaka is a very serious editing application with a learning curve that will keep you occupied for a while. For home users with simple needs and conventional formats, I might recommend a Web-based app such as JumpCut, which was acquired by Yahoo last year. I find the editing features at JumpCut to be the best in its class, but I have also found that uploads have been getting slower of late.
